Getting inventory under control after a 4x expansion
After quadrupling its retail space and adding more than 300 products, a service business had no way to know what was in stock. We put a real inventory system in place across retail and service.
Client: Retail and service business
The challenge
The business quadrupled its retail space and quickly added more than 300 products. Items sold as fast as they arrived, and the service department pulled parts without any tracking.
With no formal inventory system, service jobs stalled on stock shortages and nobody could say with confidence what was on the shelf.

What we did
- Installed a multi-user QuickBooks POS system linking retail and service
- Set up workflows for retail sales, service parts usage and customer records
- Imported supplier catalogs and built accurate item records
- Ran a full physical inventory reset
- Wrote simple, standard procedures for receiving and using stock
The results
- Real-time inventory visibility across both departments
- Faster customer service and job turnaround
- Fewer stockouts and errors
- A system that can keep up as the business grows
