Replacing an overbuilt POS system with one the team can actually use
A retailer was paying enterprise prices for a point-of-sale system that crashed, confused new staff and never matched the books. We replaced it with something simpler, cheaper and reliable.
Client: Multi-channel retail business
The challenge
The business had moved to a sophisticated cloud POS system expecting it to support long-term growth. Instead it brought high monthly fees, frequent crashes during updates and a steep learning curve that made it hard for new employees to handle basic sales.
Worst of all, inventory never lined up with QuickBooks. Counts on the showroom floor drifted from the back office, which meant lost sales, wasted labor and headaches at tax time.

What we did
- Identified the features the team actually used every day
- Cleaned more than 20 years of customer and vendor records before moving them
- Moved to QuickBooks Point of Sale on a local server, so registers keep working during internet outages
- Built templates for common services, items and unusual transactions
- Connected the POS directly to QuickBooks so the books update as sales happen
- Trained the team on site and stayed available for remote support
The results
- New employees learn the system in an afternoon instead of weeks
- Inventory and accounting match, with far fewer errors
- High monthly fees eliminated and processing costs reduced
- A stable, predictable system the owner doesn't have to babysit
